The best vegetables you can grow at home during isolation

Gardening experts have revealed their top tips for growing vegetables in small spaces, as more people seek to become self-sufficient amid food shortages in several countries due to the Corona crisis.

“You can make the most of every space in your home – no matter how small – from windowsills to small balconies, patios, and even the pots on your front door,” gardening expert Louise Golden told the Daily Mail.

window trim

You can grow: spinach, peppers, radishes, garlic, and small greens, and if the spot is sunny, tomatoes can be grown in a window box, especially small cherry tomatoes.

If the rim is deep enough, spinach can grow well even with only a few hours of sunlight, and it is advisable to choose pots that are at least six inches deep, and give each spinach plant enough space for its large leaves.

Yard

Experts say carrots and beets can be grown in the backyard, and vertical gardening is ideal for backyard gardens and can be achieved through a wall system for growing herbs.

This method can also be used to grow lettuce and cherry tomatoes in the backyard.

Balconies

Although balconies are usually narrow, they provide ample space for growing fresh produce. You don’t need a lot of space at all to grow tomatoes and garden herbs, which can be grown in suitable containers and pots.

Before deciding what to grow, it’s a good idea to check how much sun your balcony gets. You’ll need at least five to six hours of full sun per day to grow the widest variety of vegetables.

Balconies can be used to grow a variety of vegetables, including tomatoes, lettuce, arugula, spinach, carrots, and many other types that don’t require a lot of space.

house entrance

Ideal for growing beets, carrots, beans, tomatoes, and turnips, every bit of space can be turned into a fresh produce area. A number of vegetables can be grown in containers right next to your front door.

If you’re short on space, you can turn to container-grown crops such as beans, runner beans, kale, spinach, and celery.

small gardens

It is similar to vegetables on balconies and can be used primarily for growing potatoes. It is recommended to use raised beds designated for planting, as you can customize them to fit your available space.

10 Ways to Boost Smart Living as AI Enters the Home

Advances in smart home technology are making everyday life more convenient, energy-efficient and personal, meeting the needs of the average consumer by simplifying controls, automating routine tasks, and providing personalized suggestions and insights.

As these technologies evolve and AI  enters them, we can expect our homes to become more intuitive and responsive to our individual preferences and habits, further enhancing our living experience.

While voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant have been around for some time, new developments will make smart home technologies even more personalized and intuitive.

Here are 10 ways AI can change the way you live your home and make it easier and smarter.

Home robot

Robots are small AI robots created to entertain children and patrol the house.

They use AI technology to recognize objects as people and perform tasks. Home robots must monitor temperature, take photos, play music, etc.

Note that these robots are mainly purchased to help deal with children because of the games they offer.

Surveillance cameras

Because of facial recognition, AI security cameras are different from regular standard cameras, and this is a useful innovation in the security field because it allows homeowners to see who broke into their home as well as know who it is.Cameras are not only used to detect thieves but also when packages arrive and family members are in the home.

AI TV

TVs can use artificial intelligence to replace the remote control, and some new TVs have virtual assistant technology similar to home appliances, with this innovation, users can voice control their TV, eliminating the need for a remote control.

Smart Home Appliances

Using artificial intelligence technologies, these devices answer questions, complete tasks, and interact with humans, and the most popular home device is the Echo dot created by Amazon.

These devices can be linked to lights and thermostats to be controlled by voice through voice recognition. Smart home devices are also used as an alternative to using other internet devices, allowing homeowners to search without using their smartphones.

Smart locks

Smart lock is a new innovation in the security industry, and unlike a standard home lock, a smart lock powered by AI technology can be able to detect tampering and alert the homeowner.

Using a special app, access to the digital key of the lock can be granted or withdrawn at any time, unlike a standard house key that uses physical keys.

Smart thermostat and meter

These AI systems help analyze energy and gas consumption, reducing the amount of energy wasted saving customers money as well as helping the environment.

Robotic vacuum cleaners

Robotic vacuums use artificial intelligence to complete cleaning tasks and navigate around the home. These smart vacuums need a little help, but some models don’t need help at all, and can even empty themselves of what they’ve collected.

Cooking with artificial intelligence

Smart appliances are already making their way into home kitchens, and these new smart devices are primarily used to prepare food, drinks, and coffee. Some smart refrigerators have the artificial intelligence technology to tell whether food is safe to eat or not, as well as the ability to suggest recipes based on the food in the fridge.

fitness mirror

Mirrors that use AI technology can monitor users’ health in real time, and healthcare professionals can access these mirrors and use the data to assess a patient’s risk of injury or disease.

These mirrors are also very useful for fitness purposes, as they are able to capture exercises and movement to provide personalized feedback and suggestions.

Smart mattresses and pillows
