Samsung showcases its latest connected living technologies and new built-in appliances at EuroCucina 2024

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the connected home experience, Samsung Electronics showcased its latest premium kitchen and lifestyle offerings at EuroCucina 2024 in Milan, one of the world’s leading kitchen trade shows, taking place from April 16 to 21 at Rho Fiera Milano. At the event, Samsung will highlight the power of connectivity between devices, the innovative features of its new products, and how they are revolutionizing everyday life at home.

“We are excited to introduce our latest innovations at EuroCucina, following the recent global ‘Welcome to BESPOKE AI’ event,” said Moo-hyung Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Team, Digital Appliances Business, Samsung Electronics. “We believe that device-to-device connectivity will greatly enhance consumers’ lives, and we aim to provide products and improvements built into devices that add significant value to our customers’ daily lives, and we look forward to seeing their interaction with them.”

Expand connectivity across devices

Samsung’s booth at the event will allow visitors to explore two main areas: the first for Bespoke AI appliances [1] , and the second for premium kitchens, where Samsung will unveil three new built-in appliances specifically designed to meet the needs of European lifestyles, and equipped with the latest innovative technologies.

Samsung also emphasizes the rich experience that multiple displays provide. The AI Family Hub™ [4] and the connected 7-inch AI Home [5] display built into the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ and Anyplace Induction play pivotal roles in this endeavor. These displays enable users to access appliance-related information or even receive phone calls directly on the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ while doing laundry. Most importantly, however, these displays enable these appliances to easily connect with other devices, allowing users to enjoy enhanced convenience through the SmartThings ecosystem.

The zone also offers several real-life scenarios. For example, in SmartThings Energy Away mode, devices selected by the SmartThings ecosystem are automatically turned off when users are away from home. Energy-saving solutions based on SmartThings Energy are also introduced. Optimal Charging allows the robot vacuum to charge up to 60% only during peak hours, while Optimal Scheduling automatically schedules a dishwasher cycle during off-peak hours.

This experience empowers users to do less and get more. With Calm Onboarding, Samsung ensures a seamless experience within the SmartThings ecosystem. Upon purchase, SmartThings tracks delivery through the user’s Samsung account and automatically connects to the device upon installation. Powered by Samsung Knox, the connected lifestyle experience is securely protected.

Compact products designed to meet different lifestyles.

Samsung strengthened its brand presence in the European market by unveiling built-in models including refrigerators, dishwashers, induction cooktops and ovens, along with advanced features such as AI Pro Cooking. In the premium kitchen area, Samsung is unveiling three new products designed to strengthen its position in the built-in appliances market, featuring AI-powered capabilities, enhanced functionality and providing consumers with exceptional flexibility in designing their built-in kitchens.

The first device is the Wide Base Freezer Refrigerator (BRB6500D) which represents the first wide model in Samsung’s built-in refrigerator lineup. With Wi-Fi compatibility, users can reduce energy consumption by up to 10% [6] through SmartThings AI Energy Mode [7] . Additionally, users can monitor energy usage and estimate monthly bills. If bills exceed a preset value, Energy Saving Mode [8] adjusts the compressor speed and defrost cycle frequency to conserve energy. In turn, the Twin Cooling™ system maintains food quality by independently regulating temperature and humidity in the fridge and freezer using separate evaporators and fans.

The second device is the Anyplace Induction cooktop, which was unveiled during the “Welcome to Bespoke AI” event; it provides users with flexible cooking options across the entire cooktop surface. This flexibility is made possible by 22 rectangular plate coils that cover the flat surface extensively, reducing ineffective areas and providing more cooking space compared to Samsung’s traditional four-ring induction cooktops [9] . Additionally, the Intelligent Pan Detection system helps users accurately position pots and pans, with 76 sensors that intelligently recognize cookware and display their locations on the AI Home screen. This allows users to define cooking zones and adjust temperatures according to their cooking needs. The Anyplace Induction also boasts features such as scratch-resistant glass, which has a super-hardness rating of 8 on the Mohs scale [10] , ensuring durability and easy maintenance. The product is scheduled to be available in Europe from the second half of 2024.

Finally, Samsung’s Energy Efficient Dishwasher [11] is the latest model to offer high energy efficiency for dishwashers. This appliance features A/B energy efficiency labels [12] and includes the WaterJet Clean™ system, which provides thorough cleaning from all angles to enhance energy efficiency. It operates at a noise level of just 41 decibels when using the Extra Silence program, ensuring a quiet environment [13] . Additionally, by connecting to the SmartThings ecosystem, users can achieve even more energy savings. The SmartThings AI Energy mode [14] proactively monitors energy consumption and predicts usage patterns. Users can also activate Energy Saving mode if their monthly electricity bill exceeds a set value, resulting in up to 23% less energy consumption with the Pots & Pans program [15] . This is achieved by reducing the main wash temperature and hot rinse while extending the cycle time. Meanwhile, the Kitchen Fit™ sliding door [16] ensures seamless integration into modern kitchens. Thanks to the sliding hinge, the door can be opened fully without having to cut the lower bar, thus maintaining an aesthetic appearance that matches the kitchen furniture.

Commitment to quality and cooperation at all times now and in the future.

Samsung is committed to maintaining product quality and improving results, and has developed technologies to integrate into product functions such as AI Ecobubble™ technology [17] that reduces energy consumption in washing machines [18] , and Less Microfiber™ Filter and Cycle, which reduces microplastic emissions in the water drained from washing [19] .

As part of its ongoing initiatives, Samsung is using EuroCucina 2024 to highlight its various related efforts, as the company focuses on collaboration through the use of SmartThings Energy, actively participating in projects geared toward achieving the goal of “zero-emission homes” in the future. SmartThings Energy integrates these initiatives to provide centralized control and monitoring of home energy usage. It can also sync with programs such as Demand Response (DR) [20] , by automatically adjusting the modes of connected devices when a demand response occurs. Samsung is also committed to expanding its partnerships around the world, helping customers adopt an energy-efficient lifestyle.
